Thank you for your words of encouragement. Bob and I have always had a concern for individuals who appear to be misled about what Scripture really teaches. God has given us the freedom and the responsibility to believe whatever we want to believe, but with those beliefs come consequences. If we can be used by God to help misguided people see that what they believe the Bible says is not what it really says, we are blessed.
: The work of an apologist is often a thankless job. There are so many opposers against the truth and new systems of error cropping up everywhere that need addressing. Bob knew this and worked hard to confront anti-truth activities head-on, regardless of the personal cost. He fought the good fight of faith and now is resting in the presence of the King.
: Specifically, his work regarding the Local Church a/k/a the Witness Lee Church or the LSM Church, had a profound effect on those involved. Many key leaders left in the late 80's and early 90's and confessed that looking at it with more clarity, Bob and others like him were right all along. Bob was ahead of the curve. It took these leaders time to "catch up" and figure it out themselves. One such leader was John So. Below is an note from his book, written after he left the Witness Lee Church.
: "I visited Manila in early October of 1994. Some very concerned young people from the church in Pasay City, Metro Manila, came to see me. Among them was a young brother who participated in a special young people's training in Metro Manila. At that training, they were strongly compelled to raise up their hands and declare loudly and repeatedly, "Hallelujah, I am a baby God, I am a holy God, I am God!" This particular young man refused to make such a declaration and was consequently dismissed from the training for being "rebellious." Some of these trainees also attended the Sunday morning meeting at the church in Pasay City, and there they shouted that they were Gods. I was told that they cited Psalm 82:6, John 10:34-36, and also 1 John 3:2 in order to convince others that such proclamations were fully scriptual. In the course of our fellowship, these concerned young believers earnestly requested that I write a paper on these verses to help others to be clear regarding the context of these scriptures."
